Course Description

This subject provides an introduction to modeling and simulation, covering descrite system simulation,

Course Contents as per HEC/PEC approved curriculum

Introduction to simulation concepts, Random number generation, Simulation model building, Simulation languages, Model validation and output, Development of various simulation models of practical nature using ARENA or any other simulation software.

Course Learning Objectives (CLOs):

CLO-01: To know the fundamental concepts and techniques of discrete-event modelling & simulation in the context of manufacturing systems

CLO-02: To apply the mathematical and statistical techniques to transform the real world system into a simulation model

CLO-03: To analyze, compare, and illustrate the results of simulation model

Text Book(s)

  1. Simulation with ARENA by Kelton, Sodowski, Sturrock

Reference Book(s)

  1. Discrete System Simulation by Jerry Banks, Prentice Hall.

The Text book and the course lectures parallel each other, though there is more detail in the book about some topics. It is available both in hard copy and as an e-book. Remember, lecture notes can't replace the book. It is advised to read the book.
